Facebook is working in a virtual currency. A cryptocurrency that is called to revolutionize online commerce as it is expected to be the way to buy products and purchase services on Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram. Given the attractiveness of the virtual currency, the company led by Mark Zuckerberg has managed to involve a dozen companies that will invest in it to make it possible to be put into operation, as revealed by The Wall Street Journal. According to the newspaper, the currency will be called Libra and companies such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal or Uber have backed it, for which they have had to contribute 10 million dollars. This new currency will be linked to an underlying asset -probably the dollar-, with the idea of ​​minimizing the volatility that affected other cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin. Facebook would take more than a year working on the development of the virtual currency and, according to the newspaper, users will also have the ability to send coins to each other as well as pay on third party websites with which the company reaches agreements. At the moment it is not known which are the official plans of the company, although the newspaper aims that next week the details could be specified through the publication of a technical document giving the coin.
